We finally get to go back to Choco Mountain.
Well, Mario Kart 8 fans certainly got a huge dose of good news today during the Nintendo Direct livestream. If you're sick and tired of the various courses that are currently available to you, the Booster Course Pass is going to alleviate all of your boredom by dropping tons of new tracks for you to throw banana peels on.
The newly announced Booster Course Pass DLC looks like a love letter to longtime Mario Kart fans. It will include remastered courses from across the entire Mario Kart franchise. Going by what we saw in the reveal today, it looks there will be courses added in from Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Mario Kart Wii, and more.

We're not sure what all of the remastered courses will be, but the trailer specifically revealed Coconut Mall from Mario Kart Wii, Choco Mountain from Mario Kart 64, and Tokyo Blur from Mario Kart Tour.
As for how you're going to be able to get your hands on these courses, Nintendo is planning a very Nintendo-like way of doling them out. the Booster Course Pass will be broken up into 6 waves, with Wave 1 coming out next month. This batch of DLC will cost you $24.99 on the Nintendo eShop.
However, in a bit of a bombshell announcement, this trailer also revealed that the entire Booster Course Pass will be included at no additional cost as part of Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack. Previously, the only bonuses to getting the Expansion Pack membership were the ability to play Sega Genesis and N64 games, and getting the Happy Home Paradise DLC for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. But it may hold significantly more value now if you're a hardcore Mario Kart 8 fan as you get 48 new courses as part of the deal. All that and you get to play Gunstar Heroes? That Expansion Pack is starting to look a little bit better.
Preorders for the Booster Course Pass start up today and the first wave of courses will release on March 18, 2022.
